Where is your train taking you?

We are half way through the month of January and as we started this year many of us made new intentions or new plans on how we would like it to be. We certainly hoped it to be a happy year. This is the first thing we wish to each other, to have a ‘Happy New Year’.

So, how has 2019 started for you? Do you feel any different? If you do, is there anything you have done differently that helped you with this change?

If we understand where we are right now, we can then see where we are heading. Seeing things from this perspective offers a great indication to look at the progress we have made so far in our own personal goals and our lives, based on our intentions. If we don’t quite feel satisfied with how things are going it’s a good time for reflection. Many times we carry things from the past and, out of habit, we still hold on to things that are long gone. There is an attachment to things or ideas that we may fear to let go of, perhaps a feeling that we might lose control or that we won’t make things happen the way we want it. It is OK to let go and it is OK not to be in control all the time. In fact, most of the time life teaches us that we can’t control everything. We learn this through our close relationships, throughout our careers or through our family.

There is a sense of freedom when we know that we don’t have to control everything. Life has a wisdom of its own and when we accept that and learn to relax from time to time, we can allow ourselves to flow more easily with life rather than swim against it. This does not mean that you will just sit and do nothing, waiting for things to happen. It means that you know when your turn is to do your part or take a necessary action.

It’s like sitting in a station waiting for the train. You are waiting for a certain train to take you to a certain place. You don’t just take any train, unless of course you have nothing better to do and want to go for a ride! When your train arrives you can get on it and let it take you to where you aimed to go. But if you are not on time the train will not wait for you. It may pause for a while but then continue its course. Sometimes life is like a train. You can sit around and wait for the things to happen but if you want to get to a destination, you need to take the right train. If you take the wrong train it might take you somewhere else, where you had not intended to go. Then you feel lost and confused. This is another way of saying that we can create opportunities and circumstances that can help us on our journey. We can either see them or miss them, depending on how present and aware we are. Many times we say we want something but then we do the opposite, so what can we create from that contradictory state? If your intentions and your actions are aligned, you will have a better clarity to where you are going. If you stay focused, know where you want to go and be present, you can travel more smoothly.

It is time to focus on the good things and build on what is already working. The past experiences, if we choose to look at them that way, taught us valuable lessons and through that it helped us grow. Perhaps they’ve helped us to be a bit kinder to ourselves and others, or perhaps not. It is only our choice. Sometimes it is as simple as making a choice.

The past is gone. In the present is where you can make a change. Sometimes you need to let go of the old for the new to be able to come. By letting go of the things that weight you down, old patterns of limiting thoughts and heavy emotions you start to become lighter. Your energy changes. If you feel lighter you can start to feel different. You can now make room in your life for new opportunities, new people, new ideas.

If you understand that some things from the past no longer resonate with you and your energy frequency it’s easier to let go. Letting go means to detach from whatever doesn’t support your growth and well-being and, in the process, you can help other people to do the same. To look at where are you right now it helps you see where you are going.

We’re travelers through this time and space. The beauty is that life offers us many chances and opportunities on our journeys. If we miss one train, there will be another one that will take us to where we need to go. We just need to be on time.

So, where is your train taking you?
